Death of JW ideology - Soon?
by excito-are inbeing a scotsman i find myself pround of the history of scotland.
however, there are many events that took place in scotland that are simply shameful.
consider the time period of 1500 - 1650 where in scotland over a 1,000 woman were burned at the stake accused of being a witch.

It's lasted this long and that in spite of many failed preditions. Most witnesses will obey the command not to look at any websites aside from the offical one. So they will hide themselves from the information even though its available freely and easily.
The number coming in from "the world" may go down but you're still gonna get the kids of dubs being dunked. And of course the jws will continue to target the poor and uneducated on the ministry. They're far less likely to do research on the witnesses online IMO.

CT Russell was not the only wacky pyramidologist
by Awakened at Gilead ini just finished reading a 1943 essay by bertrand russell (not related to crackpot ctr as far as i know, lol) where he discusses his cynical viewpoint of religious beliefs.
towards the end of his essay, he indicates that, instead of being disgusted by people who believe crazy implausibilities, he is actually somewhat amused, even entertained, by some of them, when their beliefs are generally harmless to the rest of the population.
after listing a few of these what he terms superstitions that "add to the gaity of life", he makes an interesting statement that jws should pay attention to:.

Interesting stuff a@g. Thanks for posting it.
I'm trying to get a bit more familar with the past presidents of the WTS and how they shaped the doctrine of their time. -

That all their policies and procedures are not worth the paper they're written on. They are ignored if/when they don't suit the interests of the WTS/Branch/elder in question.
Oh and all of the above too!

What about "Na-nah na-na-nah!"
Or "come over to the Dark Side" - said in a Darth Vadar voice ?

We were fine until 1995, then many of the older ones started taking depression medication.
Hi Ynot,
Do you think that was coz of the generation change?
Even when I was in, I noticed that poor health was a huge problem. Literally every family was dealing with some member with a chronic illness. In some cases more than one member was quite ill.

Outlaw,
You post some great little animations! And some very funny comments to go along with them. Your post about "dubots" certainly gave me a laugh.

Well handled Flipper. Sounds like you spoke to her in a way that didn't make her defensive - not an easy task with a JW!
I agree with others that this might get her to thinking a little more outside the dub box.
Good job!

Blood Doctrine....JWs dropped off a video tape and DVD for my wife.......
by insearchoftruth ini had posted last monday about having asked my wife questions on the blood doctrine, the question i asked her is if i need to get someone to be my medical power of attorney.
i asked her if a spouse of an unbelieving mate would authorize a blood transfusion.....no answer.
i also asked if she realized that the jws now allow fractions as a matter of conscience.....no answer, but in both cases she said she is just studying and needs to learn more.
